Inauguration by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

The scholarship program was inaugurated during a special event by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, emphasizing the significant role of TVS Motor Company in the state’s industrial transformation and development.

Tvs Scholarship for Engineering Students

Each year, 500 students studying professional engineering degrees, with a particular focus on mechanical engineering, which is pivotal for the fields of robotics and future technologies, will be beneficiaries of this scholarship. The scholarship initiative aligns with the beliefs of T.S. Srinivasan, affectionately known as Cheema, who was a self-taught mechanical engineer and an advocate for lifelong learning.

TVS Motor Company will collaborate with renowned educational institutions such as IITs, NITs, and other engineering colleges to make this scholarship available to outstanding students in Tamil Nadu. T.S. Srinivasan was the younger son of T.V. Sundaram Iyengar, the founder of the TVS group.

Praise from Chief Minister Stalin

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended the legacy of Srinivasan and TVS Motor’s contributions to the transformation of Tamil Nadu into an industrial state. He highlighted Srinivasan as a visionary who foresaw the future and invested in it.

Stalin also noted that TVS Motor had a lasting impact on the people, especially small traders, who relied on TVS XL mopeds for convenient transportation from villages to towns. Srinivasan’s vision of mopeds as a household necessity, akin to bicycles, was successfully realized.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Stalin lauded TVS Motor as a symbol of Tamil Nadu’s industrial strength and as a socially responsible corporation that consistently provides benevolent support during pandemics and natural disasters.

Unveiling of “The Painted Stork” Book

In addition to the scholarship program, TVS Motor unveiled a book titled “The Painted Stork,” authored by Neil Hayward, an avid birder. This book celebrates the company’s manufacturing philosophy and conservation efforts spanning more than two decades. It showcases how TVS Motor has applied the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling to contribute to the rewilding of natural habitats, achieving remarkable results.

Venu Srinivasan’s Vision

Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor, shared, “My father, who founded TVS Motor, believed in empowerment and transformation through education. As we celebrate his centenary, we hope this program will help nurture unstoppable leaders and fuel original thinkers who will build a better future.”
