Eligibility Criteria for UP NMMS Scholarship
To qualify for the UP NMMS scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- Students enrolled in 8th class in Government, Local body, and Government-aided Schools are eligible.
- Applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the Class 7th examination to appear in the selection test for the scholarship (a relaxation of 5% is granted for SC/ST students). Students must be regular students at Government, Government-aided, and local body schools.
- Parental income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3,50,000 per annum. Applicants must attach the Parental Income Certificate issued by the Chandigarh Administration with the application form.
- Note that students enrolled in ‘Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS)’ and ‘Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV)’ are ineligible for NMMS scholarships.
- To continue receiving the scholarship in higher secondary school, candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks in the class 10 board exam.
- To maintain scholarship eligibility in class 12, recipients must have passed class 11 on their first attempt with a minimum score of 55% or its equivalent. SC/ST category students are granted a 5% relaxation in marks.

Step 2: Download the school certificate by entering your registration number and have it signed by the headmaster/headmistress of your school.
Step 3: Upload the following documents:
- Attested/Signature Certificate
- Guardian’s income certificate
- Passport-size clear photograph
- Signature from part (d) of the third step
Step 4: Upload the reservation certificate.
Step 5: In the final step, take out the final print of your application form and keep it safe.

UP NMMS Examination and Selection Process
The NMMS scholarship, a Central Government scheme, is conducted by each State/UT for their respective students. The selection process consists of two tests: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The guidelines for these tests are set by the NCERT and must be completed within 90 minutes, except for children with special abilities who are granted extra time. UP NMMS Examination Process
- The examination will be conducted in one session with two parts:
- Part I: General Mental Ability Test – consisting of 90 multiple-choice questions.
- Part II: Academic Aptitude Test – consisting of 90 multiple-choice questions (35 Science, 35 Social Science, and 20 Mathematics).
Qualifying Percentage
- GEN, BC & PH: 40% (36 MARKS)
- SC & ST: 32% (29 MARKS)
