Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Domiciled in Sikkim
  • Belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category of the state
  • Enrolled as a regular, full-time student in Class 9 and 10 in a government school or a school recognized by the government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education (CBSE/SBSE)
  • Annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income not exceeding ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Benefits Breakdown

Selected scholars will receive the following benefits:

  • Monthly scholarship grant: ₹350 for 10 months
  • Books and Ad-hoc Grant (per annum):
    • Day Scholars: ₹750
    • Hostelers: ₹1,000

Additional Allowances for Students with Disabilities

Under the ‘Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage’ (IEDSS) scheme by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), students with disabilities attending government, government-aided, and local body schools receive financial aid of ₹3,000 per annum. However, students in un-aided schools are not covered under this scheme. Hence, SC students with disabilities studying in Class 9 and 10 in private un-aided recognized schools are eligible for various allowances.

Selection Criteria

Terms and Conditions

  • The scholarship tenure is for 10 months in an academic year.
  • No scholarship will be awarded to students who fail to get promoted to the next class/level.
  • Change in the course of study is not permitted.
  • The scholarship will be cancelled in case of discontinuation of studies due to personal reasons or false information provided in the application.
  • Income certificate is required only at the time of admission to courses continuing for more than one year.
  • Family income computation varies based on the family’s situation.
