ONGC Scholarship: Young and talented athletes with the potential to excel in their sports can receive financial assistance under the ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme. Sports covered by the program include athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, football, golf, hockey, kabaddi, swimming, and wrestling. Each scholarship is available to students of different ages and genders, and there are 250 scholarships in total. ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme Objective
Sports Scholarships are awarded by ONGC to young and talented sportspeople who have the potential to excel in their respective sports. This scheme offers financial assistance to athletes in order to help them pursue their dreams, hone their skills, and achieve excellence in their sports. These young athletes’ achievements will be recognized and rewarded as part of the scheme. The scheme also aims to inspire and motivate young people to pursue their passion for sports by engaging them in sports activities. Through this scheme, emerging sports talent will be identified and supported, financial constraints will be overcome, and opportunities will be provided for them to excel at national and international levels.
Criteria for Eligibility
For an applicant to be eligible for this scholarship and receive all of its benefits, they must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Indian citizenship is required for the sportsperson.
- During the scholarship period, the applicant cannot receive any scholarship or stipend from any other organization.
- For Chess, Gymnastics, and Swimming, the minimum age is 10, but the scholarship is open to athletes between the ages of 14 and 25.
- Students up to the age of 24 as of April 1 of the scholarship year can apply for the scholarship, and the maximum age limit is 25 years old.
- Scholarships will be awarded for FY 2023-24.
- Applicants must apply every year for the merit-based scholarship.

ONGC Scholarship Features & Benefits Available
The organization presents ONGC Scholarship with many benefits and facilities. Here are some points to help candidates learn about the major benefits and facilities available:
- Under the direction of the Head of Sports, sports persons on scholarship may represent ONGC in PSPB/AIPSSPB tournaments and other competitions within the country.
- In order to participate in the tournaments, the players will receive TA/DA and all necessary expenses.
- ONGC-branded playing kits will also be provided to scholarship recipients. During competitions, players must wear these kits.
- Individual health insurance covers scholarship holders for Rs. 5,00,000/- (Five lakhs only). ONGC will reimburse up to Rs. 7,000/- of the individual’s premiums if they obtain the required health insurance coverage on their own.
- Sports scholarship holders are not responsible for any loss, damage, injury, or disability caused by ONGC. ONGC will not be responsible for any damages, injuries, or disabilities the scholarship holder may incur while participating in any sport activity.
