Odisha Scholarship Eligibility

Students must fulfill certain conditions in order to receive an Odisha scholarship. Eligibility is largely determined by a student’s current academic qualifications and financial needs.

  • Any recognized institution or university may accept students pursuing a graduate degree with courses lasting at least three years.

  • Student’s family income must not exceed INR 6 lakh per year from all sources.

  • In the first year of the course, the student must apply for the medhabruti.

  • In order to qualify, the student must have scored at least 60% in their 12th grade.

  • Students must have passed the CHSE, Odisha/class 12th or equivalent exam from a CBSE/ICSE-accredited institution.

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an approved college/institute/university or pursuing a general degree.

3. Post Graduate Merit Scholarship (Medhabruti) For All
  • Student’s family income must not exceed INR 6 lakh per year from all sources.

  • In the first year of the program, the student is eligible to apply for medhabruti.

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized institution/university is required.

  • Students must have passed a +3 degree and scored at least 60% in their graduate program.

4. Technical and Professional Merit (Medhabruti) For All
  • Student’s family income must not exceed INR 6 lakh per year from all sources.

  • In the first year of the program, the student is eligible to apply for medhabruti.

  • Student must be pursuing either a regular technical degree or a professional bachelor’s degree and integrated course recognized by a government regulatory body, such as AICTE, MCI, DCI.

  • MBA, MCA, MFC, or MSW applicants must have at least 60% in their last qualifying examinations from an approved institution.

5. PRERANA- Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Scheduled Caste
  • In order to be eligible, the applicants’ family income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per year.

  • In order to apply, the applicant must be an Odisha permanent resident.

  • Any course listed under Groups I, II, III, & IV must be being pursued by the applicant as part of his/her post-matriculation studies.

  • An applicant must be enrolled in a government or government-recognized private institution.

  • In the previous exam, the applicant must have scored at least 50%.

6. PRERANA- Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Scheduled Tribe
  • The applicant’s family income cannot exceed INR 1 lakh per year.

  • In the previous exam, the applicant must have scored at least 50%.

  • In order to apply, the applicant must be an Odisha permanent resident.

  • In order to be considered, the applicant must be enrolled in one of the courses listed under Groups I, II, III & IV as a post-matriculation student.

  • Any of the following courses must be pursued as a continuation of post-matriculation studies by the applicant.

8. PRERANA- Post-Matric Scholarship for EBC Economically Backward Class
  • An annual family income of INR 1 lakh must not exceed the applicant’s.

  • Students must be enrolled in a government institution to continue their higher education.

  • A student must be enrolled in one of the courses listed under Groups I, II, III, or IV.

  • Only the EBC of the General category is eligible for this scholarship program.

9. Pre Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities For All
  • The applicant’s family income should not exceed INR 2.4 lakh per year.

  • At least 40% of the applicant’s disability must be severe.

  • In order to qualify, the applicant must be a resident of Odisha.

  • A minimum age of 5 years is required for applicants.

  • In order to qualify, the applicant cannot receive any other pension from the union government, the state government, or any other government-aided organization.

  • The applicant should be enrolled in a pre-matriculation program.

10. Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities For All

  • Applicants should have an annual family income of less than INR 2 lakh.

  • It is preferred that the applicant pursue studies in engineering, medicine, or liberal arts.

  • It is necessary for the applicant to have passed the 10th grade/BSE exam.

  • A minimum of 80% marks in the 10th grade or BSE examination are required of applicants.

14. Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati Scholarship For All
  • It is mandatory for the applicant to be an Odisha resident.

  • It is required that the applicant has either passed the Higher Secondary Examination or his/her graduation degree examinations in BA (Arts) in Odia as a major/honors.

  • In the Higher Secondary Examination, applicants must have scored at least 90% in Odia.

  • The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities announces the details of the scheme and invites applications by issuing an advertisement in the leading newspapers and through websites.
  • The applicants should submit their application through the online system within the last date prescribed for receipt of applications along with all the necessary documents in the prescribed format.
  • After filling up the application online, the applicant should submit a printout of the application to the School/Institute in which he/she is studying.
  • The School/Institute shall forward the application to the Education Department of the State Government concerned after doing the necessary verification.

Documents for Odisha Scholarship

The application process for each Odisha scholarship is incomplete without the submission of required documents. For scholarship providers to verify an applicant’s identity, eligibility requirements, and if he/she meets every requirement, they require some authentic documents.

The following is a generic list of documents that students need to submit when applying.

  • Recent passport-size photograph of the applicant.

  • Caste certificate.

  • Income certificate.

  • Copy of Aadhaar card.

9. Pre Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
  • The rate of scholarship payable for 10 months in an academic year is INR 350 and 600 per month for day scholars and hostellers respectively.
  • The scholarship includes a monthly reader allowance for blind students, a monthly escort allowance for severely disabled (80% or higher) and a monthly coaching allowance for mentally retarded and ill students. It also includes a monthly transport allowance in case the student is not a hosteller.
10. Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
  • The scholars selected through this scheme receive a maintenance allowance, additional allowance depending on the disability of the student and reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees.
11. Prof. Ghanshyam Dash Scholarship for Higher Education
  • The selected scholars receive a waiver of 90% of the academic fee and other expenses for the entire duration of a 4-year course up to an amount of INR 1 Lakh per annum.
12. Scholarship to Meritorious Students under Central Sector Scheme
  • The rate of the scholarship for students at the graduation level is INR 10,000 per annum for the 1st three years of college and university courses.
  • The rate of the scholarship for students at the postgraduation level is INR 20,000 per annum.
  • Students pursuing a professional degree/ integrated courses are eligible to receive INR 20,000 per annum in the 4th and 5th years.
13. Vidyadhan Scholarship Program (Odisha) (1st and 2nd year)
  • The selected scholars will receive a scholarship of up to INR 6,000 per annum.
14. Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati Scholarship
  • The selected scholars will receive a scholarship worth INR 20,000 as a one-time payment.
15. Financial Assistance to Sportspersons The selected scholars will receive the following financial assistance:

  • Sportspersons under BPL Category– 100% fee waiver and an additional amount of INR 10,000 for diploma and long-term courses and INR 5,000 for 6-week certificate courses to meet travelling and other miscellaneous expenses.
  • Sportspersons under Non-BPL Category- 75% fee waiver and an additional amount of INR 5,000 for diploma and long-term courses and INR 2,500 for 6-week certificate courses to meet travelling and other miscellaneous expenses.
