Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship
Since the girl child is backward in India as a result of poverty and also due to the discrimination she faces from her parents or society, it is very important if we support her. The Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship program is provided every year by the government and helps around 3,000 girls across the country. A total of 2,700 Rupees will be given to the girls every month for two years. The money will be provided to help them continue their education.

Indira Gandhi Scholarship Amount
In this scholarship, the following awards will be given to the recipients:-

Single-girl child scholarships provide monetary support every month for a period of two years to 3,000 girls from across the country.

A scholarship award is directly transferred to the awardee’s bank account.

A ‘Continuation Certificate’ must also be submitted every three months in the prescribed format by students.

For a period of two years, i.e., 10 months per year, selected girls receive a scholarship amount of INR 3100 per month, covering the full duration of the postgraduate course they are pursuing.

Students receive the award through the UGC-designated agency upon joining the first year of their PG program. Awardees should submit their award letter and joining report to the designated agency along with their picture, address, and phone number.
Indira Gandhi Scholarship Eligibility
In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Any designated university or postgraduate college must admit applicants to the regular, full-time master’s degree program.

There must be only one child in each family for the girl candidate. For this scholarship, candidates may not have brothers, but twin daughters/fraternal daughters are welcome to apply.

The age of the candidate at the time of admission to the PG program must not exceed 30 years.
-
The scholarship is not available to candidates enrolled in distance education courses.

Students are also not required to meet any income criteria to be eligible for this scholarship.

Terms and Conditions
In order to apply for the scholarship, the applicant must comply with the following conditions:

Candidates must be in the first year of a PG program to be eligible for this scholarship.

In lieu of hostel fees, medical expenses, etc., candidates are not entitled to receive any additional grant.

The host institutes do not charge the awardees any tuition fees under this scholarship for single girls.

Once the scholarship amount has been awarded for one year, the candidates must submit their Progress Report in the prescribed format to the designated bank (Canara Bank), based on which the next academic year’s funding is released. In addition to the signature of the Head of the Department and the Registrar of the University, the Principal of the College or Head of the Institution must sign the report as well.

Those who discontinue their studies without notifying the UGC must refund the whole amount directly to the UGC account through e-mode (RTGS/NEFT).

It is also possible for applicants to apply for other scholarships with the benefits of this scholarship.

Scholarships may be terminated if the candidates engage in misconduct, provide inaccurate information during the application process, or score below 55% in the first year (50% in the case of Physically Challenged awardees).
